How to Prepare a Submission

Over 150 submissions by residents and important citizens were received by the State Government objecting to the Chimes Development Application. An example of our draft submission follows.

The Chimes is one of 30 Modernist apartment buildings in the vicinity, and the proposed new building will be twice as large and 50% higher than the original, destroying the low-rise profile of the neighbourhood. The loss of worthy buildings and the diverse community ejected from them will be a forever embarrassing reminder of the folly of the State Government’s blind adherence to a mantra (more housing) while giving free reign to the greed of private developers. Existing affordable housing must be protected not just because of the buildings but because of the people who live there and contribute so much to the diversity and culture of their communities.
