Clive Lucas OBE

Clive Leslie Lucas OBE is an eminent Australian architect, formerly the principal and founding partner of Clive Lucas, Stapleton & Partners. A passionate advocate for his profession, having served as President of the National Trust of Australia (NSW), Chairman and Trustee of the Historic Houses Trust of NSW (now Sydney Living Museums) and the Australian Heritage Commission.

“Sydney’s most prominent heritage architect” (Sydney Morning Herald, 31 March 2012), he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Science in the faculty of Architecture, Sydney University, in 2011.
Lucas is the co-author of several Australian architectural reference works, including Australian Colonial Architecture and Australian Country House.

Winner of more Australian Institute of Architects awards than any other architect in NSW he was a consultant to the Australian Government for the reconstruction of Darwin following Cyclone Tracy. Lucas has during a lifetime of dedication to the preservation of Australian architecture worked on many significant buildings that include Hyde Park Barracks, Old Government House, and the Mint.

He was awarded the Order of the British Empire and the Queen Elizabeth 11 Silver Jubilee Medal.
